Benjamin King is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Kinyu SCM, the company behind The China Desk — a specialised service that enables international companies to employ and manage supply chain professionals on the ground in China. With more than a decade of experience in China’s manufacturing and sourcing landscape, Benjamin focuses on helping foreign businesses navigate local operations in a practical, people-centred way.
His career has taken him through Changsha, Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, giving him a uniquely rounded perspective on the regional differences that shape China’s business environment. He holds a Master’s degree in Global Marketing from the University of York, where he researched UK–China buyer–supplier relationships. Under his leadership, Kinyu has supported companies across the globe, as the employer of record of teams managing over USD 130 million in trade each year and built a reputation for providing reliable, on-the-ground representation for international companies.
As part of his commitment to strengthening the British business community in South China, Benjamin has led the Supply Chain Initiative within BritCham, establishing a dedicated working group that brings together professionals from diverse industries. This initiative has broadened the Chamber’s membership base, deepened engagement with operational teams in China, and contributed to the Chamber’s overall strategic development in the supply chain and manufacturing space.
Benjamin is also active in public speaking and cultural exchange, having presented at the Canton Fair and collaborated with the British Council’s Mandarin Excellence Programme. He regularly shares insights on people management, sourcing strategy, and the realities of operating in China.
