The annual flagship forum “GBA Strength • UK Connection • Global Success: Hengqin & Zhuhai, The UK, and The Lusophone World – Connected”, hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce South China and supported by the UK Department for Business and Trade and the British Consulate-General Guangzhou, was successfully held today at the DoubleTree by Hilton Zhuhai Hengqin.

·珠海专场聚焦横琴粤澳深度合作区作为连接中国与葡语国家及英国市场的战略枢纽作用,吸引了来自粤港澳大湾区的百余企业高管、专业服务机构代表,以及中英两国商界精英齐聚一堂。与会嘉宾围绕大湾区政策优势、英国市场准入路径、葡语国家协同机遇等核心议题展开深入交流与探讨。
Previous sessions of this forum series have been successfully held in Shenzhen and Guangzhou, receiving strong attention and positive feedback from many Chinese enterprises seeking to go global. This Hengqin Zhuhai session focused on the strategic gateway role of the Hengqin–Guangdong–Macao Greater Bay Area in connecting China with Portuguese-speaking countries (Lusophone markets) and the UK. The event brought together over 100 senior executives from the Greater Bay Area, representatives of professional service firms, and business leaders from both China and the UK. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on key themes such as Greater Bay Area policy advantages, market access pathways to the UK, and synergies with Lusophone countries.

Authoritative Keynotes and Strategic Focus: Strengthening the Hengqin-Macau Outbound Bridge
论坛在中国华南英国商会主席马克·柯雷顿、横琴粤澳深度合作区经济发展局投资促进处副处长张升及英国驻广州总领事馆首席商务领事陆岩的致辞中开幕。他们一致强调,横琴作为联通中国内地与澳门、辐射葡语系国家及欧洲市场的独特平台,正成为中英经贸合作与企业国际化布局的新高地。
The forum opened with remarks from Mark Clayton, Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce South China; Zhang Sheng, Deputy Director of the Investment Promotion Division of the Economic Development Bureau of Hengqin; and Trevor Lewis, Head of Trade and Investment, South China, UK Department for Business and Trade. All speakers emphasised that Hengqin, as a unique platform connecting Mainland China with Macau and radiating to Lusophone markets and Europe, is becoming a new hub for UK-China economic and trade cooperation and enterprise internationalisation.



马克·柯雷顿在致辞中分享了自己扎根珠海21年、其所创立的英资企业C2W在广东成功运营20周年的亲身经历。他表示:“我本人就是外资在华成功的例证。我希望能看到更多中国企业反向实现同样的成功——走向全球,特别是走向英国,并在这个过程中与合适的伙伴——英国伙伴同行。”
In his welcome speech, Mark Clayton shared his personal story of living and working in Zhuhai for 21 years, and building C2W, a British-founded company that has successfully operated in Guangdong for 20 years. He said: “I am an example of what successful FDI into China can look like. My hope is to see many more Chinese companies achieve the same in reverse: going global, particularly into the UK, and going with the right partners – British partners.”

他还指出,英国拥有全球最强大的专业服务能力(法律、税务、治理、品牌、合规与市场准入),无论中国企业的目标是英国、香港、中东、东南亚、非洲,还是今天的重点——巴西、葡萄牙及更广泛的葡语世界,英国企业都是最佳的合作伙伴。中国华南英国商会已于今年1月与中国企业“走出去”综合服务中心签署战略合作备忘录,成为首个做到这一点的外国商会。
He further noted that the UK has the strongest professional, financial, and business services in the world – legal, tax, governance, branding, compliance, and market entry. Whether the destination is the UK itself, Hong Kong, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa, or – given where we are today – Brazil, Portugal, and the wider Lusophone world, UK firms are the best placed to help. In January this year, the British Chamber of Commerce South China became the first foreign chamber to sign a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with the China Enterprise “Go Global” Comprehensive Service Centre (GGCC).

英国创意机构JUICE的客户合作总监Alex Jupp从品牌情感联结角度出发,提出“赢得英国消费者,关键不在逻辑,而在情感与故事”。他建议中国企业深度理解英式精神——含蓄、幽默、怀旧,并通过本土化叙事建立信任。
Alex Jupp, Client Partnerships Director of UK creative agency JUICE, focused on brand emotional connection, arguing that “winning UK consumers is not about logic, but emotion and storytelling.” He advised Chinese companies to deeply understand the British spirit – reserved, humorous, nostalgic, and averse to overt selling – and to build trust through localised narratives.

在案例分享环节,广药集团(澳门)国际发展产业有限公司质量研发总监陈思园详细介绍了广药以澳门为支点、横琴为腹地,成功打通中成药 “澳门制造”并取得多项“首个”批文的实践。她指出,“琴澳联动”模式为企业提供了税收、注册、国际认证等多重便利,是中医药国际化的可复制路径。
In the case study session, Chen Siyuan, Quality and R&D Director of Guangzhou Pharmaceutical (Macau) International Development Co., Ltd., detailed how GPG has used Macau as a springboard and Hengqin as a hinterland to successfully achieve “Macau-made” TCM products and obtain multiple “first-of-its-kind” approvals. She noted that the “Hengqin-Macau integration” model provides enterprises with benefits in taxation, registration, and international certification, offering a replicable pathway for TCM globalisation.

毕马威中国高级税务经理文婧系统解读了横琴企业所得税(15%税惠)与个人所得税(高端人才15%、澳门居民差额补贴)政策,并通过案例分析展示了企业如何通过供应链与研发功能重组,最大化政策红利。
Miko Wen, Senior Tax Manager at KPMG China, systematically interpreted Hengqin’s corporate income tax (15% preferential rate) and individual income tax policies (15% for high-end talents, Macau resident subsidies). She illustrated through case studies how companies can restructure their supply chain and R&D functions to maximise policy benefits.

荣耀终端股份有限公司公共关系总监张曾依分享了荣耀与英国BT/EE在ESG与供应链治理方面的深度合作,以及在澳门与CTM开发适老化智能手机的社会实践。她强调,“开放创新,笃行致远”是荣耀携手国际伙伴、构建全球生态的核心哲学。
Zoey Zhang, Public Affairs Director of Honor Device Co., Ltd., shared Honor’s in-depth cooperation with BT/EE in the UK on ESG and supply chain governance, as well as its social practice in Macau developing age-friendly smartphones with CTM. She emphasised that “open innovation and long-term commitment” is Honor’s core philosophy for building a global ecosystem with international partners.

在题为“驾驭全球商业新格局、连接大湾区与世界、伙伴关系助力全球增长”的专题研讨中,来自中国企业“走出去”综合服务中心、渣打银行、德勤中国、道通科技及其礼律师行的嘉宾展开深度交流。嘉宾们一致认为,当前中国企业出海已进入以“信任”与“韧性”为关键词的新阶段。企业不仅需要关注ODI备案、跨境融资、法律合规等硬性门槛,更需构建涵盖治理体系、数字化基建与本地化运营的软性能力。多位嘉宾以实战案例强调,在进入英国及葡语国家市场时,选择专业、可靠的本地合作伙伴,是规避风险、实现规模化增长的关键。
In the panel discussion titled “Navigating the New Era of Global Business, Connecting GBA with the World, and Partnerships for International Growth”, speakers from the China Enterprise “Go Global” Comprehensive Service Centre (GGCC), Standard Chartered Bank (China) Limited, Deloitte China, Autel, and Clyde & Co engaged in in-depth dialogue. The panel reached a consensus that Chinese enterprises have entered a new phase of outbound expansion defined by “trust” and “resilience”. Companies need to focus not only on ODI filing, cross-border financing, and legal compliance, but also on building soft capabilities in governance, digital infrastructure, and localisation. Several panellists shared real-world examples emphasising that selecting professional, reliable local partners is critical to mitigating risks and scaling from pilot success to sustainable growth when entering the UK and Lusophone markets.

中国华南英国商会主席马克·柯雷顿在总结中表示:“中国海外并购今年一季度达到五年新高,但相比2016年的历史峰值仍有巨大增长空间。英国的专业服务能力与中国企业的出海需求高度互补。我们期待携手更多中英专业机构,助力大湾区企业高质量、可持续地走向英国、葡语国家及更广阔的国际市场。”
Mark Clayton, Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce South China, concluded: “Chinese overseas M&A just reached a five-year high in the first quarter of this year, but there remains huge room for growth compared to the historical peak in 2016. The UK’s professional services capabilities are highly complementary to the outbound needs of Chinese enterprises. We look forward to working with more UK and Chinese professional institutions to help GBA enterprises expand into the UK, Lusophone markets, and beyond in a high-quality, sustainable manner.”
本次活动是“走向全球”系列继2025年广州首站、2026年深圳旗舰论坛后的又一重要落地活动。会后举行了交流酒会,与会嘉宾继续就潜在合作与未来发展深入交流。
This event is the third major “Go Global” series event following the Guangzhou launch in November 2025 and the Shenzhen flagship forum in January 2026. The forum concluded with a networking reception, where participants continued to exchange views on potential collaboration and future development.
